The 1st Int'l Workshop on Patent Information Retrieval - PaIR'08 on
was held on Oct 30,
2008 in Napa, CA, co-located with the CIKM 2008
conference on Computational
Intelligence and Knowledge Management.
The workshop attracted 22 both high-profile
university people as well
as IP professionals from various companies (e.g. Thomson
Reuters,
LexisNexis, CAS, BASF, Boston Scientific, etc.). We had Anthony Trippe
from 3LP
Advisors as invited speaker who gave an interesting and
lively talk on the importance of
patents for the economy.
In
total 7 papers were accepted as full papers and presented at the
workshop.
Additionally, 2 contributions were presented as posters.

The 2nd Int'l Workshop on Patent Information Retrieval - PaIR'09 was held on Nov. 6th, 2009 in Hong Kong, China, co-located with CIKM 2009. The workshop had 25 registered attendees. Keynote talks were presented by Prof. Noriko Kando (National Institute of Informatics, JP) and by Mr. Ilkka Havukkala (Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand). Out of the 12 submissions, 5 were accepted as full papers. In addition, 6 authors were invited to present a poster.
